I think at this school, people seem to be way too stressed all the time. Things can be tough, but there’s no need to be in a stiff mood all the time. Of course, not stressing yourself out is easier said than done, and it’s not always so easy to relax.
With my final project, I aim to give people a display that will hopefully cause them to stop and take a step back for a minute. I want them to be able to loosen up and maybe even crack a quick smile. The way I plan to do this is by creating what I call “The Abbey Road of RPI.”
In the same fashion that the Beatles have been photographed crossing the abbey road in London, I would like to photograph four prominent figures crossing a similar crosswalk here at RPI. One of the figures will be Albert Einstein, perhaps one of the most famous great minds. The other three figures will be famous RPI graduates: George Ferris, the inventor of the Ferris wheel; Washington Roebling, the designer of the Brooklyn Bridge; and John Swigert, an astronaut who flew on the Apollo 13 mission. The resulting display will hopefully give viewers a short break from their long, stressful day.
